Dr. Leighton is a professor of medicine and chair of the Division of Gastroenterology at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. He received his MD from University of Arizona College of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center. His specialties include inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal neoplasia and diseases of the small bowel. He has used these interests to focus on improving imaging of the small bowel, biomarkers for inflammatory bowel disease, and detection of colorectal cancer.
